Domestic Terrorist Groups:

1-Earth Liberation Front

· Economic sabotage and guerrilla warfare to stop the exploitation and destruction of the environment
· ELF was founded in Brighton in the United Kingdom in 1992
· ELF was classified as the top "domestic terror" threat in the United States by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in March 2001
· Goals were property destruction that harms the environment such as Hummers, buildings, etc.

2-KKK

• Secret organization that wanted to maintain white supremacy

• Ku Klux Klan used threats, violence, arson, and murder to further its white-supremacist, anti-Communist, anti-Semitic and anti-Catholic agenda

• First formed after the civil war

3-Phineas Priesthood

-Discourage interracial intercourse, the mixing of races, homosexuality, and abortion

-Goals are to try to stop those things, mainly interracial intercourse, citing Numbers 25 as a justification for use of force to stop it.

-Threatened to blow up FBI buildings, bomb abortion clinics, and rob buildings.

4-Scott Roeder

-Strong anti-abortion activist, but not associated with any group

-Shot and killed George Tiller, a physicians in the US who performed late-term abortions

-Scott attended many trials against Tiller’s practices, all in which he was acquitted in

-These excuses infuriated Scott and he called the trial “a sham” so he killed Tiller himself one Sunday morning while Tiller was in church

5-Andrew Joseph Stack III

-Felt remorse towards government because of injustices and the messed up politics

-Had been evading his taxes for years

-Wrote a suicide note saying he was letting go trying to stop the government

-Flew his plane into an Austin, Texas IRS building

-Attempt to show the world the corruption and greed in America

International Terrorist Groups:

Al-Qaeda

• Global militant Islamist organization founded by Osama bin Laden in Pakistan
• Al-Qaeda has attacked civilian and military targets in various countries, such as the September 11 attacks, 1998 US embassy bombings and 2002 Bali bombings.
• New leader is now Ayman al-Zawahiri

Palestine Liberation Front
-Militant group led by Dr. Wasel Abu Yousef
-Was led by Abu Abaas until his death in 2004 in U.S. custody of natural causes
-Spread terror for the sake of terrorism; it doesn't recognize Israel as a country
-Led multiple attacks on innocent civilians


Abu Sayyaf Group

-Mainly kidnaps and holds people hostage of foreign descent in his country.
-Works in many cases involving with Filipinos
-His goal is to hold people ransom to get Philippines to agree to fund him
-Has not attacked the US since 1993, but he did kidnap an American Muslim convert while he was on a trip to the Philippines





Shining Path

-Based in Peru
-Goal is to provoke a new “armed” revolution in Peru to basically overthrow the government
-Responsible for numerous assassinations in Peru and even killed an American Citizen working for our international government system
-Active since the 1960’s and still active today

National Liberation Army —Colombia

-Their membership is estimated at around 5,000 guerrillas as of 2010
-Classified as a foreign terrorist group because of it's reputation for ransom kidnappings and armed attacks on Colombia's infrastructure
-Roughly 3,500 lives lost annually, the majority are civilians.





Conclusion:

1. We believe it lies mostly outside the borders because there is a greater possible threat out there and it would be harder to stop and locate the threat unless it was within our borders.
2. Some of the groups do have a valid argument such as the Earth Liberation Front. But most of the groups did not have a valid cause in harming and killing other people.
3. No, we believe that it is wrong either way and what they are fighting for is a worthless cause if they kill and hurt people.
